Dinner

Last night's dinner was pasta. I cooked up some spicy Italian sausage, onions & garlic, mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes and a little cream and tossed it together with a little cheese and bow-tie pasta. Yum. And I had leftovers for lunch today. Though, somewhat less enjoyable due to the proliferation of fennel seeds. I HATE fennel and I'm not a huge fan of spice seeds either. I should have guessed being that its Italian sausage and all. I should have just spent the extra couple of bucks and got the Publix brand. Eh well.

Tonight it's red beans and rice. Started out the way I start my chicken paprikash, with bacon. Nothing makes a dish taste better than using bacon drippings instead of regular cooking oil. Plus, you have bacon for brekkies in the a.m. Oddly enough I'm using smoked turkey sausage in it. I plan to serve it gravy style. Over the rice, instead of cooking the rice in the same pot. The best way, because the beans and sausage are the star of the show anyway.

Your pasta dish sounds yummy. I don't like fennel seeds either. Have you tried Aidell's Chicken Apple Sausage? It's a bit pricey for a 4 pack, but very yummy. We usually serve it with grits and a side veggie.
