Over the weekend I (yet again) decided that I need to be more healthy. Part of this was due to me being disgusted with my lack of healthy habits, the other part has to do with the heat and not wanting to eat heavy foods. So far, o.k. Let's be honest, I am no crunchy hippie. I mixed up some 'taco salad' from vegetarian author Nava Atlas. Of course I made some modifications, I always do. It's quite yum. I took it for lunch today and plan to do the same tomorrow. I'm going to add some tortilla chips though. For dinner I mixed up a big salad.
I hit the Dekalb Farmer's Market this weekend. I have to say that is one of my favorite places in Atlanta. You gotta go early though. Not only is the selection better but so are the crowds. I got oodles of fresh veggies for dinner salads......radishes, peppers, onion, sprouts. They even had fresh garbanzo beans!! They come in their own individual pods! (That's my kindda bean.) I resisted the temptation of the delicious French truffles coated in cocoa powder, mostly because of the price. Another thing great about the farmer's market is the good yogurt. The real thing, whole milk, and fruit. That along with granola is breakfast. So that's my goal. Eat decent food all week long, no beer, and drink less caffeinated beverages and more water. Oh, and take my vitamins. I'll start working in exercise later.
